Governor’s office interns are an integral part of Governor Hobbs's team during the legislative session. Selected through the Arizona Legislative Internship program, interns will learn the inner-workings of Arizona’s executive and legislative branches, while receiving on-the-job training from governor’s staff. This position requires a substantial time commitment and a professional demeanor at all times.

Why intern in the Governor’s Office?

• Only a handful of interns are selected to work in the governor’s office.
• The work is rigorous and fast-paced, but the experience gained is unlike any other legislative internship.
• Interns work one-on-one with the governor’s legislative team and policy advisors, learning and experiencing the legislative process.
• Interns’ primary responsibility is to monitor legislative hearings and legislative activity.
• Governor’s office interns will develop in-depth knowledge on a wide range of Arizona issues. Interns split each day’s committee assignments, covering numerous committees over the course of the internship.
• The governor’s interns are part of a dynamic team. Interns rotate daily responsibilities and work together collaboratively to accomplish goals.
• Interns learn how bills affect various state agencies and stakeholders at weekly meetings with agency legislative liaisons.
• Other intern responsibilities include compiling and preparing bills for the governor’s review and summarizing relevant data pertaining to each bill.  
• Governor’s interns will visit various state agencies to provide a broader understanding of state government.

Legislative Internship Details:

• The Legislative Internship is offered during the spring semester, from January through May. Interns are placed in various positions at the Arizona State Senate or House of Representatives. Interns may be selected to work in the Governor's Office or with the Supreme Court.
• Interns receive a stipend of $4,700, a tuition/fee waiver and earn 12 hours of undergraduate upper division credit or 9 hours of graduate credit upon successful completion of the internship.
• Eligibility: Applicants must be candidates for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree at one of Arizona’s participating universities and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the time of application. Candidates for a Bachelor's degree must have at least 75 hours at the end of the fall semester prior to the internship.
