Governor-Elect Katie Hobbs Announces Public Safety Cabinet Members for Incoming Administration

PHOENIX – Today, Governor-Elect Katie Hobbs announced several members of her public safety cabinet. With a proven track record of success, and years of expertise, these are the dedicated professionals who will run state agencies and help us build an Arizona for everyone.
One of my top priorities is keeping Arizona families safe, "said Governor-Elect Hobbs". As champions of public safety and dedicated community leaders, these professionals have the experience to lead our public safety departments. I know I will sleep better at night knowing that these leaders are working tirelessly to protect our communities.
Lt. Colonel Dana Allmond - Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS)
Retired Army Lt. Colonel Dana Allmond - a mother, wife, veteran, dynamic change agent, and champion for our communities - is a 1994 United States Military Academy graduate. With more than 23 years of active duty service and family legacy, Lt. Col. Allmond is a lifelong public servant. With veteran voices top of mind, she is focused on providing Class A services to protect the life, limb, health, and welfare of veterans and their families.
Maj. Gen. Kerry Muehlenbeck - Department of Emergency and Military Affairs (DEMA)
Maj. Gen. Kerry L. Muehlenbeck was selected as the Adjutant General and Director of the Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs in 2021. Prior to this assignment, she served as the Deputy Adjutant General and Joint Task Force Commander. She was commissioned by direct appointment in 1992, remained on active duty for four years, then transitioned to the Air National Guard. She spent the bulk of her military career as an attorney and held various National level judge advocate billets.
Ben Henry - Department of Liquor Licenses and Control (DLLC)
Ben Henry is the Deputy Director of AZPOST. An Arizona native, Ben has over 30-years of law enforcement experience, working for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, as the Chief Deputy, and the Phoenix Police Department, as a Commander. He has a bachelor’s from ASU, a master's from NAU, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Prior to starting his law enforcement career, Ben spent five years working as a driver/salesman for Hensley Beverage Company.
Doug Sargent - Department of Juvenile Corrections
Director Doug Sargent began his career with the Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections in 2005 and has held a variety of leadership positions. He was appointed as the Deputy Director in 2018. In January 2022, Mr. Sargent was appointed as the Agency Director. Prior to joining ADJC, Director Sargent served 20 years in the United States Air Force. He has a Master of Management Degree, specializing in Organizational Development, from the University of Phoenix.
