Phoenix, AZ – Today, following the passage of HCR2060 out of the Arizona State Senate, Governor Katie Hobbs released the following statement:
“HCR 2060 will kill jobs, hurt businesses and prevent law enforcement from stopping dangerous crimes. Business leaders, border law enforcement, and bipartisan local leaders throughout the state who oppose this bill know it will not make us safer, instead it will demonize our communities and lead to racial profiling.
“Nobody is more frustrated than me at the federal government’s failure to secure our border. That’s why I’ve taken action to send the National Guard to our border communities, direct nearly $100 million to local law enforcement to increase fentanyl interdiction and fight human trafficking, and created Operation SECURE to coordinate border security efforts.
“We desperately need more resources to secure our border, not empty political rhetoric. While extremists play political games with the safety and security of Arizonans, I will continue to do everything in my power to protect the border and call on the federal government to do its job. Arizona should not pay the price for the federal government’s inaction.” |
