The Governor’s Office of Equal Opportunity has produced this Manual to inform state agencies, Directors and designated Equal Employment Opportunity Liaisons on the Executive Orders that ensure equal economic and employment opportunity to all citizens of Arizona. This Manual also details the parameters of the State Equal Opportunity Guidelines, and outlines specific requirements for annual agency Equal Opportunity Plans and equal employment opportunity compliance.
The mission of the Governor’s Office Of Equal Opportunity is to administer the State Equal Opportunity Guidelines on equal employment opportunity, as mandated by Titles VII and IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Equal Pay Act of 1963; the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, as amended; the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; the Vietnam Era Veteran Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended; Executive Order 11246 as amended in 1967; the Americans with Disability Act of 1990, as amended; and the Civil Rights Act of 1991. The Office also monitors compliance with Equal Opportunity plans and provides training in this area on an ongoing basis.
