Rejects Calls To Raise Taxes Or Cancel Existing Tax Reforms

PHOENIX – Governor Doug Ducey today in his State of the State address called for the elimination of an automatic tax hike that Arizonan’s face each year because we don’t tie our income tax to inflation. He also renewed his commitment to balancing the budget rather than raising taxes on Arizonans.

Governor Ducey called on the Legislature to pass a measure that permanently indexes Arizona’s income tax to inflation, to eliminate this threat of a tax increase each year.

“An essential of good government are tax rates that are predictable and reasonable,” Governor Ducey said. “Yet every year, Arizona taxpayers are faced with this threat of a tax increase. This is an issue of fairness and we owe better to all Arizonans – so let’s get it done this session.”
