Comprehensive Legislation To Combat Opioid Epidemic Heads To Governor Ducey’s Desk

PHOENIX — Just moments ago, the Arizona Legislature passed the Arizona Opioid Epidemic Act, which received unanimous support in the House and Senate. Governor Ducey called a Special Session of the Legislature on Mondayto provide priority consideration of the comprehensive legislation, which provides funding for treatment, improves oversight and enforcement tools, and extends life-saving resources to law enforcement, first responders, and community partners on the ground.

“This is a tremendous example of what we can achieve when we work together,” said Governor Ducey. “The Arizona Opioid Epidemic Act provides thoughtful, aggressive policy solutions to address this growing crisis and help save lives across our state. I thank legislative leaders and all legislators—Democrats and Republicans—for working together during this special session to give this issue the urgency it deserves and for passing this critical legislation. I look forward to signing it.”
