PHOENIX – “I am deeply saddened by the loss of the 11 American servicemen – including Tombstone, Arizona native Carlos Carrasco – killed in a military transport aircraft collision in Afghanistan on Friday. Carrasco, an unmanned aerial vehicle mechanic and technician, was one of five civilians killed alongside six airmen serving overseas in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Carlos Carrasco and his family, as well as his fellow service members and loved ones of those taken in this tragic crash. Their deaths serve as a stark and solemn reminder to all of us that – for our military women and men – no mission is ever routine or without risk. These brave and noble individuals willingly served and knowingly sacrificed to defend our national security and protect American freedom. We are in eternal debt to these heroes, and we are forever grateful to all of the patriotic women and men who’ve worn the uniform of our nation’s armed forces. May God bless and watch over them all.”
