Dear Friends,

Gas prices keep rising, and especially as the summer travel season arrives, people need help dealing with painful prices at the gas pump. With the economy hurting, families need some help figuring out how to save on gas.

While the cost of gas is still low in Arizona compared to the rest of the country, the recent spike in prices still hurts. The world price of oil is out of the control of any one driver or family – but what we can do is make sure that every dollar of gas goes as far as it can.

I now have a consumer toolkit on my website to help families do this. If you go to my website at www.azgovernor.gov and click on the icon that says “Tips for Fighting High Gas Prices,” you’ll find a directory of web-based resources that can help. Among other things, these tools allow you to:
  • Find the cheapest gas closest to you
  • Get to-the-penny estimates of the gas costs of road trips
  • Learn tips to best save gas, including replacing air filters
  • Find alternatives to driving, such as carpools or mass transit
As gas prices continue to go up, the best way to save is to use gas as efficiently as possible, and to shop around for the best prices – which you can do by using the new consumer toolkit on my website.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, you can contact my office at (602) 542-1318, or visit my www.azgovernor.gov for news and information in state government.

Yours very truly,

Janet Napolitano
Governor
