Dear Friends,

One goal of my administration has been to create public-private partnerships that improve our economy and move Arizona forward. That is why I was proud to announce this week that Google and the state of Arizona have teamed up to make it easier to access public information found on state government Web sites. And even better - there is no additional cost to Arizona taxpayers.

More and more Arizonans are turning to commercial search engines - such as Google, Yahoo and MSN - to access government services. Yet prior to this partnership, much of the information on state agency Web sites could not be found through traditional search engines.

By working with Google, we are transforming the way Arizona provides information to the public - allowing users to find what they need quickly, while making government more accessible.

For example - previously, if you wanted to find official information the state has on a real estate agent or child care facility, you would need to know which state Web site to visit. Now, you can simply use commercial search engines to find information from state databases.

As this partnership expands, it will include more databases and more state agencies. The information found in these databases is already public record and privacy rights are protected.

In addition to this collaboration, Google is also contributing to our 21st century economy by bringing high quality jobs to the state.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please contact my office at

800-253-0883 and ask to speak to Constituent Services.

Yours very truly,

Janet Napolitano
Governor
